During the summer of 2008, extensive remodeling was being completed on the home owned by Ann and Phil Stover to fulfill the necessary requirements of operating a YRCII.
A Director was hired, with a very strong clinical background and experience working with troubled youth and families. Shortly thereafter, a decision was made to hire staff using the “Teaching Parent” model in conjunction with Managing Aggressive Behavior training (MAB). This training focuses on a crisis management program that focuses on prevention and de-escalation while teaching the physical and non physical intervention skills needed to keep Teaching Parents and clients safe.
Teaching parents are supplied with a minimum of 40 hours of training prior to filling a shift and are certified in MAB. In addition they are required to have 45 hours per year of CEU’s. They are never referred to as staff, but as Teaching Parents. This was all done to facilitate the mission which is to: “Provide hope in a compassionate, safe and stable environment”.
By providing all Teaching Parents with training in MAB, fundamentals of behavior management, trauma based treatment, and policy and procedures before they work shifts; they are able to help and mentor the youth that we serve, not just supervise them. It is the goal of Hope House ownership, management and staff, that each youth can reach their fullest potential and find peace while in our care, experience spiritual growth and a renewed sense of hope.

Hope House strives to provide hope in a compassionate, safe, and stable environment for children.
